BlueAnt Unveils Voice-Controlled Mobile Headset

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

BlueAnt Wireless (News - Alert) reportedly has launched the BlueAnt V1 Headset, the world’s first and only fully voice controlled Bluetooth headset featuring the BlueGenie Voice Interface and BlueAnt’s own Voice Isolation Technology.

The company says its new release uses the BlueGenie Voice Interface from Sensory, Inc., to help users control their headset with voice commands instead of pressing multiple buttons or looking at the phone. In contrast to the headsets that only support voice dial capabilities through q-mobile phone’s voice features, the V1’s voice control is embedded in the headset itself, said the company.

BlueAnt V1 Headset also helps the user to control all headset features such as pairing, volume and connection status using only his or her voice. The device supports such commands as “Redial,” “Call Back,” and can even verbally list all available features. It will even talk users through its functions when they say “Teach Me.”

The company says that BlueAnt V1 is the first standalone headset on the market to incorporate the Bluetooth version 2.1 + Enhanced Data Rate specification. The device’s new Comply Foam Tips and rubber ear gels provide comfort and help block peripheral noise.

BlueAnt Chief Executive Officer Taisen Maddern said that the V1 is by far the most advanced headset on the market today with the superior sound quality and wearability people expect. According to Maddern, the intuitive voice interface appeals to technology power users as well as first-time Bluetooth headset users searching for a simple yet effective hands-free solution.

Available for $129.95, the BlueAnt V1 also incorporates dual microphones using BlueAnt’s patented Voice Isolation Technology, a proprietary Digital Signal Processor (News - Alert) software solution. By using advanced techniques, Voice Isolation Technology separates the user’s voice signal from all other sounds, enhances the voice and removes external noise coming into and out of the headset.

“BlueAnt is a true innovator in this industry and we are happy to see our BlueGenie Voice Interface technology introduced to consumers in this cutting-edge Bluetooth headset,” said Sensory Inc.’s chief executive officer, Todd Mozer.

Mozer said he expects users to embrace the voice interface of the V1 as an intuitive and much easier and safer means of interacting with a headset, allowing the user to not only go hands-free but also eyes-free in the car.
