After working hard to bring enhanced sound quality technologies to the recording and movie theater markets, Dolby is now aiming to do that same for personal computers (PCs). The company recently released its next-generation PC Entertainment Experience program, a suite of Dolby audio post-processing and connectivity technologies designed to enhance the listening experience for consumers.
The latest features of the Dolby PC Entertainment Experience program include second-generation Dolby Home Theater, which puts the listeners right in the middle of the action by providing PC tools to deliver a cinema-style experience in surround sound. It also has second-generation Dolby Sound Room that provides superior personal listening experience from any pair of speakers or any set of headphones. It also suits environments where using surround sound speakers is not practical.
“Sound is an essential ingredient for the entertainment experience, and today millions of people worldwide are using their PCs to enjoy music, movies, and games,” said Keith Kowal, marketing manager at the Dolby Labs PC business, in a statement. “People expect great sound, but they also want a simple and enjoyable way to experience it. The latest version of the PC Entertainment Experience program gives PC makers a powerful way to integrate the same features, performance, and flexibility found in the most popular consumer electronics devices.”
The Dolby PC Entertainment Experience program was launched by the company about four years ago to give people the freedom and flexibility to enjoy surround sound in a variety of playback environments. Since then, the company has been offering new ways to enhance and control listening experiences on the PC.
