Vigor Gaming Releases Enhanced Colossus

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Vigor Gaming has announced the release of the latest edition of Colossus, a high-end desktop product for extreme gaming.

California-based Vigor Gaming offers gaming technology, peripherals, and extreme computing rigs.

The latest edition of Colossus features Intel’s (News - Alert) dual socket extreme desktop platform, “Skulltrail.” The Intel D5400XS mainboard that makes Skulltrail possible also incorporates the latest technologies from NVIDIA and AMD (News - Alert) that allow for multi-GPU configurations.

With two Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9775 quad-core processors, Colossus clocks at 3.2GHz and has the capability to attain higher speeds with Vigor’s complimentary over-clocking service.

Enterprise level chips incorporated into Colossus enable users to handle graphically intense computer games very easily.

Intel’s Skulltrail, the Dual Socket Extreme Desktop Platform for gaming is made of Intel’s D5400XS main board. D5400XS delivers unmatched performance for advanced digital media creation and editing. It supports up to eight processing cores and four graphics cards. With this, Colossus is capable of running up to two XHD (2560x1600 resolution) monitors which gives clean clarity and also has minimal effect on performance. Colossus can run demanding video games like Crysis and Call of Duty 4.

Vigor’s Colossus can be configured with Windows Vista 64-bit. It can also be configured with 8GB of fully-buffered DDR2 memory clocked at 800MHz.

Vigor’s Twin-Peaks cooling system is used for cooling of the components, which enables the system to run at full speed indefinitely.

Vigor’s Colossus default configuration includes 4GB of DDR2 800 memory, more than 2 Terabytes of Hard Drive space in RAID-0 configuration, a 1000W power supply and two overclocked NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT graphics cards.

Vigor’s Colossus full configuration includes two Western Digital (News - Alert) Raptor 150 Hard Drives, two AMD Radeon HD 3870 X2 graphics cards, 8GB of fully-buffered DDR2 800 memory, high-fidelity audio by Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi, and many other high-end components.

Vigor’s Colossus was designed mainly as an extreme gaming desktop, but it doubles as a powerful multimedia content platform. This makes it the perfect solution which can blend work and play on a single computer.

Vigor Gaming also offers free Logitech (News - Alert) gaming peripherals, free shipping, or instant rebates.
