CEA Announces New Enhanced Wireless Certification Program

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) announced the launch of a new enhanced Wireless Certification Program, which will help improve customer experiences at wireless retail stores.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is a trade association promoting growth in the consumer electronics industry.

The new certification program will introduce and teach the latest trends in wireless technologies, key product features, accessories, plans, subscriptions and other information.

The program includes a new interactive format, which offers multiple learning styles and it is also more conducive for delivery on the retail sales floor.

“With more choices than ever in wireless handsets, subscriptions and data services, shopping for a new device can be an overwhelming experience for the average consumer,” said Kara Dickerson, CEA’s Director of Strategic Relationships.

“When retail sales professionals know and understand the features that they’re selling, customer satisfaction increases and product returns are reduced. CEA’s Wireless Certification Program provides a solid foundation of knowledge that will benefit all wireless retailers and their teams.”

CEA’s CEknowhow, which was launched by CEA’s Wireless Communications Division, has set the standard for online consumer electronics category-level training in areas such as Audio, Digital Television and GPS.

Many of the company’s retailers such as Best Buy, Ritz Camera and Staples rely on CEA’s program to keep their employees updated and trained on the latest wireless technology.

“CEA’s Wireless Certification Program is an excellent tool to keep our employees up-to-date on new technology and trends in the wireless industry,” said Kevin Sinclair, president and CEO of Wireless Zone and member of CEA’s Wireless Communications Division Board. “The knowledge gained from this program ensures our customers the best possible experience when visiting our stores.”
