Sling Media, known for its ability to enable home television viewing via IP connections anywhere in the world, is demonstrating its SlingPlayer Mobile software running on RIM’s BlackBerry smartphones for the first time at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES ( News - Alert)) in Las Vegas this week.
A BlackBerry Pearl 8120 smartphone, which has both cellular and WiFi data connectivity, will be used for the demonstration, according to Sling Media which plans to release SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry ( News - Alert) later this year.
“SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry has been a top customer request since we launched the original Slingbox Classic in 2005, and being a BlackBerry addict myself, I am particularly excited about this announcement,” said Blake Krikorian ( News - Alert), co-founder, chairman and CEO of Sling Media. “Combining the best of breed email device with the ability to watch and control your living room TV is a killer combo.”
Slingbox enables personalized mobile TV experience for BlackBerry smartphones, so that customers can watch TV programs on an Internet connected Mac or PC, as well as newer mobile phone platforms, like Windows Mobile, PalmOS, and Symbian ( News - Alert) OS.
