New ACD System From Cortelco

Cortelco has announced the availability of its new DSP 1000 automatic call distributor (ACD) system. Applications for the new DSP include Emergency 911 call centers, insurance, travel agency, catalog house, utility, financial, service agencies, independent cable and telephone providers and others. The new system is expandable from 3 up to 750 agents and is capable of up to 5,000 agent assignments with 1,376 ports; expanding to 2,500 ports later in 1996.

Open architecture expandability utilizing Intel(TM) 486 DX2-66 microprocessors provides for distributed processing throughout the system and is upgradable to the Pentium Processor(TM). The system software is a real-time Unix(TM) operating system which is POSIX compliant and allows customized call- processing applications to be designed for unique usages. In addition, nonproprietary network interfaces allow full integration with IVR equipment, voice messaging systems, host computers, predictive dialers and other peripherals. The DSP 1000 is designed to configure with redundant back-up systems for both its central processors and power supply.

Computer-telephony integration (CTI) flows information between the host computer and the DSP 1000 ACD system. This capability provides screen synchronization, automatic outbound calling, ANI screening and routing.

With real-time routing, the DSP 1000 system will support up to 32,000 routes with 64 different steps each and handle up to 35,000 call transactions per hour. Simultaneous queuing among multiple agent groups and queuing based upon specific parameters are programmable with the DSP 1000.

More than 25 customized management reports may be run directly from the DSP 1000 system. Reports may be set up to detail per-agent data, call center total averages or other call factors on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Color display programs for use with the DSP 1000 may be configured to show different status factors in varying colors or even a flashing alert mode. Factors such as primary available, available, longest call in queue, number of calls in queue, time between calls, several "not available" status designations and other report items may be designated specific colors. Fields may be programmed to flash on certain numbers or events for easy cross-room viewing.

The DSP 1000's "Silent Manager" feature allows managers to monitor an operator's conversation with callers and give instructions to operators without a caller hearing the manager's comments.

Cortelco also offers a separate 38-button DSP Digital Set (DSP Set) specially designed for work in conjunction with the DSP 1000. The multifeatured agent set is complete with a four-line, 40-character LCD display that can be programmed to display real-time information about ongoing calls and overall call center activity. The DSP Set accommodates and shows DNIS, ANI and internal caller identification on its display panel.
