VoiceSignal is a leading developer of embedded speech recognition software for mobile devices.
In August 2005, Samsung introduced the P207 with VoiceSignal’s VoiceMode application.
VoiceMode is the first, and only, commercial dictation software capable of running on a mobile phone. VoiceMode allows users to create text messages with their voice. With VoiceMode, mobile phone users are no longer forced to create text messages by typing, or multi-tapping, on small restricted keypads.
Not only does VoiceMode break the bottleneck of inputting text on mobile devices, it dramatically simplifies the lives of end users. Users can now address a text message with a single “send text to John Smith’s mobile” command, and then dictate the message. By contrast, addressing an SMS to John Smith on a mobile phone typically takes about 7-10 button pushes, and entering the text “Hi John comma I will follow up with more information tomorrow period” would take 57 strokes on a Qwerty keypad or 114 taps on a standard phone interface.
With VoiceMode it would take seconds to address and dictate the message which would appear on the screen as, “Hi John, I will follow up with more information tomorrow.”
With VoiceMode, a user can open the text application, dictate a text message and then send the message to the correct destination, all without having to use the keypad.
VoiceMode has a large customizable dictionary, adapts to the end user’s voice over time, includes a simple-to-use interface, and is compatible with other input modes.
