American Power Conversion’s InfraStuXure InRow RC is a modular cooling solution located next to the IT equipment rack in applications ranging from small computer rooms to large data centers.
The product increases the predictability of the cooling system by close coupling the heat removal to the heat generation. The close proximity of the unit allows the fans to vary with heat load for right sizing the system. Placing the unit in the row of racks moves the source of cooling closer to the heat load and minimizes air mixing thus improving availability. This decreases the total cost of ownership (TCO) by lowering the operational expense.
Traditional perimeter cooling systems use the full fan energy and must be oversized in many cases, creating inefficiencies in the system. APC’s InfraStuXure InRow RC dramatically decreases the footprint per kW of cooling vs. traditional legacy cooling systems. It offers user-replaceable fan modules that increase availability and decrease service costs. The modular design provides scalable solutions to add cooling as demand increases. The display interface provides the current and available capacity of the unit for ease of capacity management. Lastly, the variable fan speed matches heat removal to the load improving energy efficiency.
