Complete business communications solutions provider, Bandwidth.com, has announced that it is now bundling its Monitoring & Alert service into its suite of Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) offerings for the SMB market at no extra charge. The data and alert package is designed to ensure customers are able to increase security and uptime on their data network.

In addition to its full suite of voice service offerings, Bandwidth.com’s DIA has been specifically designed for the SMB market, providing a variety of tools to make it easy for the SMB to price, order and track install status. The company is now enhancing this service by adding multiple layers of security and reliability through its Monitoring & Alert service.

Many carriers offer monitoring services, although these typically only notify customers after they have suffered an outage. Bandwidth.com’s Monitoring & Alert service is designed to enable businesses to prevent outages by providing alerts when their router is approaching a performance threshold allowing them to take proactive steps to prevent a business-impacting outage. The service also provides an easy-to-use reporting portal, which enables the SMB to readily view the performance of their circuit and router as well as identify any potential issues.

"We recognize that businesses are relying on their Internet access more than ever before and we have answered their call to make both the purchase and maintenance of those data lines as easy and efficient as possible," said Steve Lacoff, Bandwidth.com's VP of Product Management and Marketing, in a Monday statement.

"We understand the SMB needs Internet access that is cost effective, easy to order and most importantly secure. Bandwidth.com's Monitoring & Alert service ensures that our customers will have "always-on", proactive monitoring of their circuits and networks -- allowing our customers to identify and resolve network issues before they can disrupt important business operations."

Bandwidth.com's Monitoring & Alert service provides 24x7 proactive tracking, 365 days a year. All of the customer’s network devices can be monitored via Bandwidth.com’s state-of-the-art monitoring platform. Customers receive immediate notification of device disruptions and can access a Web-based portal. As a result, these customers are provided with intuitive, yet highly informative reporting and visibility into their network’s performance to address issues before they cause an outage.

Bandwidth.com establishes thresholds across a range of performance statistics for each device installed at a customer site. If a device crosses a specific performance threshold, or goes offline, an alarm is automatically triggered and alerts are sent directly to a customer’s designated contact via e-mail or pager. With the solution’s new bundling into all of Bandwidth.com’s data offerings, customers are able to achieve new levels of security and reliability with no additional effort or expertise.

"It has always been Bandwidth.com's goal to offer business telecommunications solutions that are not only cost-effective and feature-rich but also realistic, easy to install and manage," said Henry Kaestner, CEO of Bandwidth.com, in Monday’s statement. "Now, with Dedicated Internet Access, our customers also receive a complete bundled package of data, and Monitoring & Alert service that is both simple and secure."

Bandwidth.com has done well to recognize that companies operating in the SMB market face the same challenges as their larger competitors. In order to compete with these larger companies, SMBs must be able to offer comparable, or better, services and solutions. By providing a proactive solution that will enable its customers to identify an issue before it becomes a problem, Bandwidth.com is helping to create demand for its solution, while also empowering SMBs to perform as their customers demand.
