FTTH Network Installer Connexion Technologies Using BelAir Networks to Bring Wi-Fi to Housing Developments

By Patrick Barnard, Senior Web Editor, TMCnet

Connexion Technologies, which specializes in the installation of FTTH network architecture in large housing developments, will now be using BelAir Networks’ WiFi (News - Alert) technology in projects where WiFi access is contracted.

Geoff Fair, executive vice president of engineering for Connexion Technologies, said that although his company isn’t a service provider, there is a strong desire among service providers to deliver Wi-Fi to subscribers, as a value-added service, and having the infrastructure in place for doing that makes it that much more desirable for them to do business with the private developers Connexion Technologies serves.

“Our networks have to be carrier-grade and easy for us to centrally manage. That’s why we went with BelAir Networks,” Fair said in a release. “We’re known for our FTTH networks, so when we opt for a wireless alternative the performance stakes are very high and BelAir Networks has really delivered.”

BelAir Networks serves Tier 1 operators and specializes in WiFi mesh networks. The company is known for its patented switched architecture, easy to use network management and scalability.

As per the partnership, Connexion Technologies is providing a combination of BelAir200 quad-radio and BelAir100 dual-radio WiFi nodes, when opted for, to deliver high capacity, low-latency, QoS-enabled broadband access to each home.

BelAir Networks claims because its nodes interconnect with each other via a high-performance switched architecture, they deliver higher performance and scalability than other mesh networking alternatives. BelAir’s BelView Network Management System provides for easy, centralized management. It leverages the latest GIS-based mapping and GPS information to facilitate the set-up and management of Wi-Fi networks of all sizes, scaling to support up to 20,000 wireless nodes.

“Connexion Technologies is a leader in the deployment of fiber to the home networks so we’re pleased that when they decided to go wireless in some of their communities,” said Ron Robinson, executive vice president of global sales at BelAir Networks. “BelAir Networks performance, manageability and scalability have proven to be such a great fit. Working with Tier 1 service providers, BelAir Networks has earned a reputation for delivering high-performance, easy to manage wireless solutions for both large-scale and multi-site networks.”

Cary, N.C.-based Connexion Technologies builds FTTH networks in single-family, multi-family, high-rise, resort and hospitality properties nationwide. By installing fiber cabling, developers can greatly boost the value of their investment and, in turn, bring more value to homeowners and tenants. These FTTH networks, with their ultra-high capacity, can be used for delivering next generation technologies including VoIP and HDTV as well as a myriad of “smart home” technologies that will be coming to the fore in the near future.
