Actiontec Earns Award for Next-Gen Wireless Broadband Router

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Actiontec Electronics, a Sunnyvale, California-based provider of broadband-powered solutions, announced that its next-gen wireless broadband router, MI424WR, has been awarded with annual Vendor Innovation Award from Broadband Multimedia Marketing Association.

The award was announced recently during the BMMA Annual Meeting in Florida.

The BMMA is a nonprofit organization that promotes the adoption of wireless broadband and DSL services. It was mainly formed to enhance the business prospects of vendors and service providers in the ILEC broadband and DSL services industry.

The BMMA’s annual Vendor Innovation Award recognizes the broadband vendor that best displays innovation in marketing theory, practice, or operations.

According to Actiontec, the next-gen wireless broadband router allows service providers to increase service speeds beyond 100 Mbps and thereby enables them to meet an increasing consumer base. Launched in July, the wireless broadband router is built on a high-performance hardware design that can handle multiple high-throughput media streams simultaneously, including standard and HDTV-based video programming, online gaming, music, live sports and children’s entertainment.

Featuring TR-69+ remote management feature, the router provides end-to-end QoS support for voice and video, says company. Customizable firewall, stateful packet inspection, denial of service protection, content filtering/parental controls, intrusion detection, WPA and WEP WiFi (News - Alert) encryption, are some of the enterprise level security features incorporated in to the router, said the company.

In addition to awarding the router for its performance, the BMMA Marketing Award recognized Actiontec for its close partnership with specific service providers during the product development. This ensured that the device met all carrier specifications and application requirements, from connectivity and networking standards to performance specifications and management requirements.

The BMMA recognized Actiontec also for its innovative customer support and marketing campaign that was initiated to support the Wireless Broadband Router, said the company. This initiative ensured the company with increased user adoption rates as well as facilitated customers to take advantage of the router’s advanced functionality to the maximum extent. In this regard, the company provided an online ‘How To Zone’ page on its website that incorporates over ten tutorial videos that guide customers step-by-step through a wide range of applications, including how to port forward or how to connect an iPhone (News - Alert) to the router wirelessly, said the company.

Brian Henrichs, vice president of business development at Actiontec Electronics (News - Alert), said, “Our goal is to stay on the leading edge of the broadband home gateway market with faster speeds, better performance, lower operating and capital costs, enhanced value-added applications, and a consistently positive end user experience.”
