Parrot, a developer of wireless mobile telephone accessories, has launched its next-generation hands-free speakerphone, the Parrot MINIKIT Slim.
With years of experience in voice recognition and signal processing technologies, Parrot is a company that has been producing several Bluetooth-enabled wireless hands-free car kits. The new MINIKIT Slim weighs only 3 ounces and is battery-powered. The product can be clipped to a car's sun visor or placed on a desk.
Technical features of this recently launched MINIKIT Slim include a Bluetooth v2.0 hands-free kit with Enhanced Data Rate (EDR); Integrated multi-speaker voice recognition software; Text To Speech facility; 3-button user interface; wide audio dispersion with flat panel loudspeaker based on NXT SurfaceSound technology; Integrated omni-directional microphone; option of pairing up to 5 phones; and phone pairing by PIN code
Additionally, the MINIKIT Slim comes with a talk time of 10 hours, standby time of over 20 days and recharging time of up to 4 hours. With 256 Mbit flash memory and Parrot P5+ microprocessor at 208 MHz, the new product will be available at $99.99.
"Following the market trend toward smaller and lighter products that are easier to use, our engineers went back to the drawing board to develop a sleeker, more stylist version of our original Parrot MINIKIT, integrating innovative features such as immediate voice-activated access to the telephone's commands and phonebook," says David Wenning, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Parrot.
This new model also uses Parrot's latest voice recognition and DSP technology with user-independent voice recognition and text-to-speech capability. The user-independent voice recognition totally reduces the need to create voice tags. The Parrot MINIKIT Slim has a total contact capacity of 2,500 names with 1,000 names per phone.
Parrot has designed the MINIKIT Slim by combining its audio expertise with flat panel speaker technology developed by
NXT, a company specializing in the development and commercialization of the Distributed Mode Loudspeaker (DML) technology termed as the flat panel loudspeakers. In a flat, vibrating panel, sound gets transmitted more clearly and evenly thereby offering a high audio quality.
The Parrot MINIKIT slim is compatible with nearly every Bluetooth portable phone in the market and is available in both a matte black surface and in a floral print design.
