RF Technologies Intros Wireless Call and Communication Solution

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

RF Technologies has introduced a wireless call and communication solution, Code Alert Integrated Care Management (ICM). The new solution has the ability to help residents of senior living facilities notify caregivers that they need assistance.

James Hermann, vice president of Business Development at RF Technologies, noted that this technology provides peace of mind for both residents and caregivers, knowing that instant communication and assistance is easily accessible.

Using the Cisco (News - Alert) Messaging Interface, RF Technologies’ Code Alert ICM provides mobile event notifications, mobile event classifications, hands-free voice-to-voice communications between caregivers and residents, and remote text messages via the Cisco Unified Wireless Phone.

The company’s officials explain that with Code Alert ICM a desktop unit is typically installed at a nurses’ station or concierge desk, and mobile phones carried by staff members. The system also requires the installation of phone set in each resident’s living quarters and common areas. Once the alert button is pushed or cord is pulled in one of these areas, the alert is forwarded by the central server to a designated phone along with the name and location of the resident. Upon receiving the alert, the caregiver can communicate with the resident through the speaker on the nearest available phone.

Code Alert ICM also helps residents alert caregivers that they require assistance wherever they happen to be inside of the facility. Users can wear a call pendant with an alert button, and if pressed, the central server will send an alert along with the resident’s name and location to the phone set designated by the facility.

Code Alert ICM notifies staff of an e-call, an event and associated responses via two-way communications, including new voice-to-voice capability. In case of an emergency, caregivers can speak with residents immediately to find out the nature of the alert, and reassure them while sending help.

RF Technologies’ new release operates on a wireless mesh network that routes the data, location and identity of a resident requesting assistance and instructions between signaling devices. The company informs that the two-way voice communications operate on WiFi (News - Alert). Leveraging the two-way voice communications facility, the caregiver can dial-in on a mobile phone the type of care that was administered in response to the alert. The solution also allows alerts to be sent to a variety of signaling devices. In addition, the alerts can be transmitted by email and text message.

Code Alert ICM integrates RF Technologies’ Code Alert Wandering Management and Code Alert Advanced 3-Way Care systems into a single platform, which allows for fall, incontinence and turning schedule management to be recorded and reported on combined reports.
