Aeris and Wavecom Intro Preconfigured Aeris Wireless CPU Devices

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Aeris (News - Alert) Communications and Wavecom have announced the availability of Aeris network-ready versions of the Wavecom CM52 and Q2438 Wireless CPU devices.

Aeris has verified the set of parameters that enable a Wavecom (News - Alert) CDMA Wireless CPU to operate over the Aeris network throughout North America enabling Wavecom to preload the Aeris network information into the Q2438 and CM52 Wireless CPU devices during their production. Customers can order these Aeris-provisioned products from Wavecom or from any Wavecom distributor.

As the Q2438 Wireless CPU is certified for the Aeris Digital Network-1XRTT, SMSDirect and Voice Services, it allows customers to equip applications with CDMA2000 1xRTT technology. The Q2438 is particularly suited for fleet management and tracking applications thanks to its integrated gpsOne. This CPU is also suitable for fixed location telemetry applications such as Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and tank monitoring solutions.

The CM52 Wireless CPU supports automotive manufacturing and certification. It may also be used for any applications that have to hold up under extreme conditions. This CPU is certified for the Aeris Digital Network-1XRTT, SMSDirect, Voice and Digital MicroBurst Services.

Chris Purpura, senior vice president of marketing at Aeris said in a statement that the availability of Aeris versions of the Wavecom Wireless CPU devices is another example of Aeris's relentless commitment to help their customers deploy applications faster -- saving them time and valuable resources.

He noted that provisioning, testing and launching devices on the Aeris network is easier than ever now as the process is streamlined for commercial telematics applications.

Stefan Lindvall, group vice president and head of the Americas region for Wavecom explained that by enabling connectivity to the Aeris network 'out-of-the-box', they expect their shared customers to significantly reduce their time to market.

Yesterday Aeris Communications and Kyocera (News - Alert) Wireless released a version of the Kyocera 200 Module preconfigured for the Aeris network.
