TeleCommunication Systems (

The company developed the TCS WPPL to satisfy critical last-mile communications for the Department of Defense (DoD). The solution enables communicators to extend their Local Area Network (LAN
) to deployed remote locations by providing services over terrestrial microwave radio links.
According to TCS, their WPPL is being used by the U.S. Marine Corps in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF (

Senior Vice President, TCS Government Services Group, Michael Bristol explained in a statement that their TCS WPPL cost-effectively extends the reach of a satellite-based LAN or main hub site to a tactical, remote location without having to deploy Very Small Aperture Terminals (VSATs) at each remote site.
This provides a reliable and secure mobile command and control capability that supersedes conventional two-way or land mobile radio systems by allowing the transmission of more diverse types of data.
TeleCommunication Systems, Inc. produces wireless data communications technology solutions that require proven high levels of reliability. The company was in news earlier this month when Allion, a global Information Technology (IT) testing organization decided to implement the TCS Xypoint Secure User Plane for Location (SUPL) Server to deliver Location-Based Services (LBS) to Asia-Pacific customers.
