Airvana ( News - Alert), Inc. has announced a number of objectives in the company's endeavor to develop CDMA Femtocells.
Airvana is involved in developing a femtocell that provides requisite back up to both 1xRTT and EV-DO services, which for the first time in the industry will guarantee that consumers have a steady mobile experience for voice, video and data services irrespective of being connected by means of their femtocell or the macro network.
Airvana's CDMA femtocells are at present experimenting with mobile network operators and are anticipated to be commercially available in the second half of 2008.
Additionally, Airvana has earned a reputation for itself in the CDMA femtocell market by means of its capacity to present operators a comprehensive access network infrastructure solution for femtocells. By presenting operators with CDMA femtocells, its Femto Network Gateway ( News - Alert) service offered by the Universal Access Gateway in conjunction with the necessary configuration, monitoring and management software, Airvana makes available a perfect solution that makes deployment easier for operators and expedites time to market.
Sanjeev Verma ( News - Alert), vice president of Business Development and co- founder of Airvana observed, "Femtocells will extend the advantages of CDMA and EV-DO technology for potentially millions of users while creating new revenue streams for operators." He added, "Our solution will help CDMA operators evolve toward fixed-mobile convergence offerings that scale in coverage and capacity."
Airvana's pioneering role in CDMA femtocell expertise extends from the company's achievement in offering CDMA2000 1xEV-DO equipment for operators' macro networks internationally.
