Aeris Communications Collaborates with Wireless Monitoring Solutions

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Aeris (News - Alert) Communications and Wireless Monitoring Solutions have partnered to provide GSM/GPRS network access for M2M applications, including self- service machine and tank level monitoring solutions.

Crane Wireless Monitoring Solutions (WMS) will reportedly roll out its VantedgePoint remote monitoring system based on the IEEE 802.15.4/ZigBee wireless networking standard. The solution will provide integration with LAN and Cellular WAN communications, which is provided by the Aeris GSM network.

Designed for two-way communications, the VantedgePoint system supports real-time data capture and analysis and provides the capability to remotely monitor various types of machines, sensors or processes. Additionally, Crane WMS will provide data aggregation, hosting and network management for remote monitoring network solutions.

Charlie Stuewe, vice president and general manager of Crane WMS said that they picked Aeris as their network partner because Aeris is known as the M2M service provider leader. They wanted to capitalize their application on Aeris’s extensive industry expertise and their ability to provide quality team support services and a flexible pricing plan that is imperative for their business.

The companies explain that supported by the Aeris GSM network, the remote monitoring solution from Crane WMS represents how M2M technology can enhance process efficiencies and profitability by communicating key machine data to a central location. This capability optimizes operation and route management. Both Aeris and Crane support telemetry services to self-service machines and tank farms, allowing operators to reduce operational costs through remote monitoring, increase productivity, improve customer service and provide new services such as cashless transactions.

Mareca Hatler, director of research for ON World Inc., points out that there are several ways in which machines and processes will benefit from M2M technology, including remote monitoring and diagnostics. In the next few years they expect to see more and more companies, especially in the self- service market, switching to a digital M2M communications system to enhance business and productivity.

“Aeris is expanding its efficient, real-time monitoring capabilities across various markets by working with Crane WMS,” said Mark Cratsenburg, senior vice president of sales for Aeris in a statement.
