Study: Demand for Third Party Wireless Support Services is Growing

The increasing number of smartphone launches and the growing mobile workforce has created new opportunities for third party wireless support services vendors, according to a recent repot from InfoTrack.

Many respondents surveyed for the report said that by 2010, they would be using some type of third-party wireless service.

The increased complexity of mobile devices and applications resulting from newer technology platforms and different network access technologies has made mobile devices and applications more complex and has necessitated third party support, a company statement said.

The main reason for opting for third-party support is cost. About 30 percent of respondents indicated that they could save up to 30 percent by doing so, particularly in ongoing maintenance services.

Mobile workers constitute 0 to 25 percent of the total workforce for majority of enterprises and this figure can increase between 25 and 50 percent, the report notes.

A third of the respondents to the survey also said that their existing capabilities are not enough to support the mobile workforce. 17.7 percent said they have internal capabilities to support all requirements of mobile workforce.

Enterprises will go for third party vendors, if they can show a clear and tangible return on the investment, Mike O'Neill, vice president and publisher of InfoTrack said in a statement to the press.
