Spirent Communications Recognized as Ethernet Testing Leader by Frost & Sullivan

Communications and network testing company Spirent Communications has been recently recognized as the market leader for Ethernet testing by Frost & Sullivan in its World Gigabit Ethernet Test Equipment Market report.

Spirent surpassed its competitors by selling more Ethernet test ports through its comprehensive solution portfolio of testing solutions.

“For more than a decade Spirent has pioneered advancements in Ethernet testing and we are delighted to see our leadership position validated by our customers through Frost & Sullivan's (News - Alert) research,” said Bill Burns, CEO, Spirent, in a statement. “As the industry migrates to ever more complex technologies, we remain focused on delivering world-class products that enable our customers to rapidly deliver new solutions and services.”

Spirent's Ethernet testing solutions extend from the lab with product development and verification, to the field for service assurance and to the in-home network to ensure Quality of Experience of multiplay applications.

Spirent TestCenter and service assurance tools such as Spirent Tech-X Flex have been designed to test high-speed communication networks such as 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet networks that deliver rich media content.

One of the challenges associated with test high-speed Ethernet is synchronizing all the test ports with nano-second resolution. Without synchronization, results from different ports, blades or chassis cannot be correlated to isolate anomalies and correct them. Spirent TestCenter was designed to test at bit rates up to 40 G and 100 G.

“It is no longer enough to offer test tools that focus solely on performance,” said Jessy Cavazos, industry manager, Measurement & Instrumentation, Frost & Sullivan, in a tatement. “Instead, network equipment vendors and service providers are demanding test solutions that offer enhanced realism as they scale their products and networks.”

Cavazos added, “Spirent stands above the crowd in terms of delivering the realism, scalability and the intelligent results required by customers testing Ethernet solutions today.”

Spirent was also recently recognized by Frost & Sullivan as the market leader for enterprise network test and measurement solutions.
In March, Spirent announced that ETS-Lindgren’s EMQuest Antenna Measurement Software offers support to Spirent’s UMTS Location Test System, TMCnet reported.

This new capability will enable wireless device manufacturers to add Spirent’s A-GPS instrumentation to ETS-Lindgren’s (News - Alert) over the air wireless test solutions, streamlining efforts to meet emerging standards for wireless device A-GPS performance, officials said.
