Report: KPN Mobile Maintains Lead in Netherlands Mobile Market

A new report available from Research and Market, “3Q08 Netherlands Mobile Forecast, 2008 – 2010,” examines current state of the mobile communications industry in the Netherlands, and offers a fourth-year forecast.
The report listed KPN Mobile, Vodafone (News - Alert), Telfort, Ben (T-Mobile) and Orange (Netherlands) as major players in the region.
A key finding of the report is projection that the rate of subscriber growth in the Netherlands will be slower than in other European countries. The number of total subscribers for 2008 is projected at 18.4 million, and that’s forecasted to reach 19 million by 2010.
Market share for largest mobile operator in the Netherlands, KPN Mobile, will see a slight increase from 50.9 percent in 2008 to 51.5 percent in 2010, Research and Markets said. The market share for Vodafone has been forecasted to fall slightly from 22.3 percent now to 22.1 in 2010, and likewise Ben (T-Mobile (News - Alert)) market share will decrease from 26.7 percent to 26.4 percent during this period.
KPN Mobile also topped the list for highest earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA). EBITDA margins for the top companies — KPN, Vodafone, Ben (T-Mobile) — during 2008 were projected at 42.6 percent, 33.9 percent and 22.7 percent, respectively.
