EuroDNS announced today that it’s the first ICANN-accredited Registrar to sign up to distribute the new communications-focused .tel top level domain, according to EuroDNS SA and Telnic Ltd.

EuroDNS is a Domain Name Registrar specialized in International Domain extensions. Telnic Limited is a Registry Operator and sponsoring organization for the .tel sponsored top level domain.

According to Xavier Buck, chief executive officer of EuroDNS, “As a global registrar we always aim to be in the frontline for new extensions so our customers can benefit from them straight away. Accordingly the decision to add .tel immediately was an easy one; as a global directory integrating any and all means of communication, it should appeal to all our customers, from individuals to portfolio owners.”

The user can store, update and publish contact information, web links and keywords on the internet by using .tel under a unique domain name. The .tel provides a new internet standard for businesses and individuals to take control over how and where people reach them. It also enables global discoverability in the first next-generation contacts directory with keywords enhancing search engine optimization.

Khashayar Mahdavi, chief executive officer of Telnic, said, “EuroDNS has been strong supporter of our work to develop .tel over the years. The fact that the team was the first to sign with us demonstrates the understanding EuroDNS has of .tel’s potential impact on the future of internet-based communications and directory services.”

The .tel publishing platform provides new opportunities for developers and resellers due to the rich functionalities available, according to the company. EuroDNS says it also has the required technological experience to help customers develop new services and solutions using the .tel. With more than 100 extensions available, EuroDNS provides its customers the possibility to consolidate their portfolios. The company says it’s enjoyed great success with the launches of other extensions such as .Asia and .Me due to excellent relations with Domain Name Registries.
