Continuous Computing (News - Alert), a provider of integrated systems and services for telecom equipment manufacturers (TEMs), recently announced the launch of Trillium Multi-Core, a new signalling software package.

The announcement was made after the Trillium Multi-Core revealed a breakthrough performance on the Sun Netra T5220 server. Running on the Netra T5220, the Trillium software doubled the server’s performance capabilities, enabling it to process 6,000 calls per second (CPS) with power to spare. This improvement reduces costs and increases the density of enterprise infrastructure.

"The breakthrough performance that Continuous Computing saw on Sun's Netra T5220 is just what customers demanding high performance from multi-threaded applications are looking for," commented Raju Penumatcha, vice president at the Netra systems and networking division of  Sun Microsystems (News - Alert).

Penumatcha continued: "Trillium Multi-Core software running on Sun Netra CMT servers is a winning combination and adds to the growing number of telecom software solutions designed specifically to exploit the unique capabilities of Solaris, CMT, UltraSPARC T2, and Sun Netra."

The Trillium Multi-Core software suite is built on a portable protocol designed by Continuous Computing specifically for the new generation of multi-core/multi-threaded processors in mind. This protocol software works in such a way that it fills up spaces between the multi-core/ multi-threaded processors and end applications. In this manner it is able to utilize the dual processing power without altering any of the end applications since it just scales the protocol signals and data volume.

"As the first and only comprehensive signalling solution of its kind, Trillium Multi-Core combines the value of the renowned and deployment-proven Trillium brand with the performance benefits of multi-core and multi-threading, thereby elevating performance-for-price to the next level for a wide variety of processing architectures,” said Mike Dagenais, president and chief executive officer at Continuous Computing. “Our unprecedented numbers on the Sun Netra T5220 prove what Trillium software can do on the right platform."
