Tatara Receives VoIP Patent For Mobile UsersTMCnet Web Editor Mobile convergence product supplier Tatara Systems has been issued a patent that enables any IP-connected device to make or receive voice calls tied to a user's mobile identity.
The patent is designated U.S. Patent No. 7,136,651, "Mobile Services Control Platform Providing Converged Voice Service."
Tatara implements the technology in Mobile Services Convergence (News - Alert) Portfolio of products for both femtocell
When someone calls the user's mobile number, the call can be received on the IP-connected device, if the user chooses to redirect the call. The solution enables mobile operators to offer a value added service to augment its existing PC-based connectivity services, without requiring any changes to the mobile operator's network.
Tatara implements the technology in its Convergence Server, which the company claims is the industry's first SIP-based fixed mobile convergence (FMC) application server
