West to Acquire HyperCube

By Chris DiMarco, TMCnet Managing Editor

As a fortune 1000 company, West Corporation, has made a name for itself by offering communications solutions for some of the largest companies in the world. West Corp. (News - Alert) has now revealed intentions to acquire Hypercube which will further pad its ability to provide communications to companies of all sizes.

HyperCube provides switching services for telecom carriers across the United States and has the capacity to handle exchanges through including wireless, wire-line, cable telephony and voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) companies.

"HyperCube's network and technology coupled with West's vast offerings will greatly enhance our ability to offer our customers’ cost-effective solutions to meet their growing demand for mobility and IP-based telephony," said Ron Beaumont, chief executive officer of HyperCube. "Our management team and employees are excited about the many opportunities resulting from this combination."

This announcement marks more activity in what has already been a busy year for West Corporation after the acquisition of Twenty First Century Communications in February, and Smoothstone IP Communications in June. Moving from their roots in the call center space, West has grown to serve a multitude of markets, and adding HyperCube will push their ability to provide network services even further.

In a piece on West Corporation earlier this year, TMC CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) said, “West Corp. has evolved from a leading outsourced contact center and interactive communications vendor to a dominant IP communications player providing critical solutions for emergency services, conferencing and wholesale IP communications.”

The deal is expected to close before the end of Q1 2012 after receiving regulatory approval and tying up any other loose ends. West expects that this deal will increase its leverage ratio. HyperCube will still offer all current products and services once the deal has been closed, so current customers will continue to be supported.

TMC (News - Alert) will continue to bring you updates as more details of the deal emerge.
