Facebook For iPhone App Number One In Several Countries

By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer

Thanks to the long wait for it to finally hit the Apple (News - Alert) store, there can be no doubt as to how popular the Facebook for iPad app is. What might be a little surprising is just how popular the Facebook for iPhone app has become. The Facebook (News - Alert) Messenger for the iPhone is the number one ranked free iPhone download in several countries thanks to the ability to use the app much like you would should you be accessing Facebook from your computer.

While the Facebook Messenger for the iPhone (News - Alert) has not yet taken the top spot in the United States, it does hold the title of most popular game in France, Australia, Germany and Italy. Other smaller countries are also discovering what Facebook has to offer and they seem to be embracing the ability to easily Facebook on the go.

Facebook of course has had a long history of annoying iOS users with the the delay in not only the iPad app but the updating of the iPhone version. Still quite a bit of that frustration has subsided since the actual release, possibly because the app was so much better than some people even hoped it would be.

The ability to chat live with friends via the Facebook app is certainly a nice touch. The ease in which people are able to submit their updates and view pictures has also been a bonus. These kinds of bonuses have also seemingly offset the security fears some people feel when dealing with Facebook.

There have been quite a few times when Facebook has been proven to be violating users’ privacy. One would think that putting these kind of devices on a mobile device, a mobile device that has some hacking problems over the year would leave users even more exposed.

One app that has actually beaten out the Facebook for iPhone app in the United States and Canada is called AddictingGames. That particular app allows you to play different games that are offered up inside the app. Currently, the app is displaying quite a few games that go right along with the Halloween theme of the month.
