foursquare and Neiman Marcus Launch Challenge

By Jennifer Russell, TMCnet Copy Editor

Shoppers, get ready, get set, go! Neiman Marcus, in conjunction with the Neiman Marcus Shoe & Handbag Event, announced today its first ever foursquare challenge to take place on October 1st.

In secret locations throughout its 41 stores, Neiman Marcus will hide fifteen Nancy Gonzalez clutches. For those that have never hear of her, Nancy Gonzalez is a designer of amazing handbags and accessories. Those of us in the know, well, we will be lined up, patiently – or not – waiting.

To get started, check into Neiman Marcus stores on foursquare and unlock a hidden message. The “Check-in Special” will let you know whether you’re “hot” or “cold” in relation to the vicinity of the hidden clutch, and where to look for it if you’re in the general area. Be the first lucky one to find the handbag and it’s yours to keep.

“foursquare is another example of how Neiman Marcus is reaching both new and loyal customers with mobile and digital communications to create a unique in-store experience,” said Gabrielle de Papp, vice president of Corporate Public Relations and Social Media, Neiman Marcus Group. “Our hope is to engage with our customers in a fun and stimulating way while showcasing our assortment of fashion accessories.”

To make things even more enticing, foursquare users will be able register to have the chance to win a Nancy Gonzalez clutch. All 41 Neiman Marcus stores will award one of the clutches to a randomly selected registrant. In all, 56 clutches will be awarded.

To participate in the foursquare challenge, users need to complete these steps:

  1. Download the foursquare app at the Android Market or the Apple (News - Alert) App Store onto a Smartphone.
  2. Upon arrival at your local Neiman Marcus store, check in to the location with the foursquare app. You will be prompted either to search for a hidden clutch on the premises, or to register for a chance to win one later.
  3. Follow the clue to locate a hidden Nancy Gonzalez bag within the Neiman Marcus store OR follow the instructions to register to win.

“We're thrilled that Neiman Marcus is using our platform to engage with customers in such a creative way,” said Jake Furst, business development manager at foursquare. “This is a perfect example of how businesses can engage customers through fun, interactive foursquare campaigns.”

I, for one, am ready for some interactive fun, especially when it involves purses and shopping. And seeing that it’s just in time for my birthday, bring it on!
