SplashData Intros New Release of Digital Password Safe for Enterprise Users

By Paula Bernier, Executive Editor, IP Communications Magazines

A new release of SplashData Inc.’s digital safe for passwords is now available.

Version 2.0 of SplashID enterprise supports smartphone clients; offers integration with Active Directory so user groups don’t have to be input manually; and is available via web client, so if a user is on a device without SplashID installed, that person can still access the database via a browser.

With the new release of SplashID enterprise, the company is moving to a subscription model of $5 per user, per month.

Morgan Slain, SplashData CEO, says SplashID enterprise is beneficial to organizations because it cuts down on requests to IT about lost passwords; decreases the likelihood that employees will store passwords in unsafe places like on Post-its; and just makes life easier for employees who have lots to remember because it offers a central repository through which everybody can access passwords as needed.

TMC CEO Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) recently had the chance to sit and talk with Morgan Slain. See the video below for the full interview.

The enterprise version of SplashID was launched about a year and a half ago. Financial services institutions, users in the education space, and government agencies are key target groups for the solution.

The solution is accessible from any endpoint, and IT staff can create different levels of access for various employees and work groups.

On a separate note, SplashData offers something called SplashID Key Safe, which was designed for users who move around a lot. It lets those individuals carry SplashID around on a USB drive. It launched last year, and a new version is expected to be introduced in time for the holidays this year, Slain says.

Founded in 2000, SplashData is a Los Gatos, Calif.-based company. In 2006 SplashData was acquired by an investment company led by Slain.

“In today’s digital world, your personal information has become one of your most valuable assets,” says Slain. “We are proud that for over 10 years SplashID has helped more than 1 million people worldwide keep their passwords and identities secure and organized….”
