HootSuite Goes 'Owl' the Way with Facebook Dashboard Enhancements

Social media dashboard service HootSuite has already made quite the splash in both the business and communications world with its Twitter functionality, but now it’s swooped in with an update of its management tools for Facebook (News - Alert).



According to an announcement from the company’s headquarters today, HootSuite’s Facebook functionality has undergone a complete overhaul that will allow its millions of users to do even more in the dashboard than ever before.

The interface refresh will equip users with more control over their Facebook Groups and Events, as well as Profile and Pages, within HootSuite streams. Customized tabs for news feeds, photos, videos, events, status updates and wall posts have been created to make the entire Facebook experience that more structured – and fun, of course.

Moreover, users will now be able to attach and upload photos directly to their Facebook pages, scour public updates for brand citations, and even geo-locate campaigns.

For those managing a bucket of pages within Facebook, HootSuite has gone “owl” of its way to bring an updated Profile Picker to users for easy selection of favorites and default profiles, and even the option for auto-complete functionality. Users will also gain access to a Report Library, which includes social analytics reports for Google (News - Alert) Analytics and Facebook Insights, both of which will work seamlessly between Web, PDF and print views.

An all-new Compose Box will also enhance the experience of attaching links and photos, scheduling updates and adding Twitter geo-coordinates.

"With the widespread adoption of Facebook, companies have a powerful platform for building community, running promotions and engaging with customers,” said Ryan Holmes, CEO of HootSuite, in a press release. “But as businesses and organizations use this social network to outreach to customers, the need for strategic, editorial tools became increasingly important. With the new HootSuite features, marketing and communications teams now can efficiently manage the complete project life-cycle alongside other important channels like Twitter and LinkedIn (News - Alert)."

One of HootSuite’s own “owls,” Greg Dunn, vice president of Business Development, will be taking the stage during two sessions at TMC’s (News - Alert) forthcoming ITEXPO West, being held Sept. 13 to 15, in Austin, Texas. The first, entitled “Social Media Monitoring Best Practices,” will be held on Sept. 13, from 12:30 to 1:15, at Social CRM EXPO. Meanwhile Dunn will also be a highlighted speaker during “Securing Social Media for Compliant Collaboration,” on Sept. 13, from 3:30 to 4:15, also during the Social CRM Expo.
