Justin Bieber is coming up close to reaching Lady Gaga’s number of Twitter followers, if you count roughly 785,000 people as “close.” But when you’re talking about over 12 million followers, 785,000 seems rather paltry.

With currently over 12,023,000 followers, Bieber is pulling a close second, but Gaga is still rolling them in with over 12,808,000 followers.

The more significant factor is that people are more interested in what Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber have to say over the President of the United States. President Barack Obama has nearly 10 million, and currently sits in third place for the most Twitter (News - Alert) followers worldwide.

Next on the most-popular-by-Twitter list are Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian. While neither has anything that enlightening to say usually, and while one is heavy on the product endorsement tweets, both are poised to surpass Obama’s number of followers.
