Utilizing Tech To Keep You Healthy

There's no doubt about it that as the world advances, so does technology. And, while many people push back on this, you can't help but wonder why? Technology advancements have not only made our lives simpler, more entertaining, and freed up time for us; things like AI are saving lives. AI is shaping the future of medicine in ways that just one generation before us could have never imagined. So, while we can't all have a robot at home helping us with our day-to-day tasks or workloads, we can utilize technology in many other ways to keep us at our healthiest and happiest. Let's take a look at some ways to do that.

There's An App For That

It's become a cliche at this point, but chances are there really is an app for virtually everything you need help with, want to learn how to do, or just games to escape the stress of life and relax - Candy Crush is still a top download by the way. So, when it comes to our overall health and well-being, apps should be utilized to complement that or be a catalyst to getting started on the path to wellness.

Consider downloading apps that can help you not only with physical exercise but mental as well. It's worth your time to download a meditation app or two until you find one that works for you. Learning the art of meditation, mindfulness, and breathwork is a skill that will pay off for your entire life span. If you're not physically active yet at all, it's also worth your time to download some apps to get you into the swing of things. You can start gently with yoga or pilates, or maybe you're ready to download a full-on HIIT workout app. Whichever direction you choose, apps can be a significant resource to staying healthy. So, get thee to the App Store immediately!

Be Smart

There are other options aside from apps if you're looking to upgrade your workout game or make a sound investment seriously. Home gyms have come a long way from the clunky, cumbersome pieces of stationary equipment they began as. Today you can have a smart gym in your home that not only takes up minimal space but is also sleek in design and offers a lot more beyond its appearance. The mirror, for example, gives tons of instructional interaction, from dance, yoga to kickboxing. One merely needs to decide what type of exercise they're looking for that day and press a button.

Telemedicine Offers Convenience

Telemedicine really came to the forefront of everyone's mind during 2020, even though it was available (but not as widely used) before that. Now, we all know we should be taking advantage of telemedicine appointments in as many aspects of our well-being as possible. Of course, there are occasions where we need to go for in-person visits; however, when it comes to things like our mental and emotional health - visiting with your therapist or psychiatrist is one secure Zoom session away. Not only does this let you have more control and flexibility when it comes to your health, but it's also convenient too!

Monitoring At Home

You've probably already been doing this, but maybe not unless your doctor has ordered you to. There are several ways to monitor critical levels at home through tech, which can help alert you to "problems" before they become serious medical issues. Monitoring at home includes blood pressure readers, glucose monitors, pulse oximeters. And, if you're a parent, you're well aware of the importance of having an electronic thermometer on hand to keep an eye on troublesome fevers without waking a sleeping child. Having these types of devices at home is not only convenient, but it can also improve your mental health with the peace of mind they give you.

Tech Downtime

And, finally, one way of using technology to help you stay healthy is by unplugging it every once and a while. We all have heard of the dangers of too much screen time for children, but it's true for adults as well. Social media is a great way to keep up with friends and family, but it's also a quick way to damage your mental health through comparison to others. Remember, you're only seeing a glimpse of someone's life, not everything else going on. And, the comparison is the thief of joy. Or maybe you're spending too much time gaming that you could and should be spending with your family. Remember, everything is in moderation.

Technology and AI are here to stay, so we all should get on board on whatever level makes us feel comfortable. It's essential to recognize the convenience it brings to our lives and also how it could quite literally save our lives. But, when it comes to "time-wasting" tech, be in control and limit your time spent with it. So, here's to your health!
