How to Track Work-From-Home Employee Performance

Without clear insight into the operational efficiency of your remote teams, you risk making the same mistakes repeatedly. That's why you need to track customer interactions across multiple channels and ensure you're tracking the right key performance indicators (KPIs) so you'll know which areas need the most attention.

If you're looking for a better way to track and manage employee performance, here are four ways to get you started.

1. Set Expectations

Before you can expect anything from your employees, set expectations so that they know what they should be doing and at what level. Write out a concrete list of expectations based on job duties and company goals. Once you have a clear description, review it and distribute it to your employees so they can use these expectations as guidelines when performing on the job. If they know exactly what their job description is, they'll be much better at making sure they're doing what's expected of them.

2. Cloud Performance Management Software

One easy way to track work-from-home employee performance is by using cloud performance management software.  Aspect's cloud performance management software provides simple widgets and dashboard displays that are easy for employees to use and management to oversee no matter how far away. This type of software can also help you align enterprise and agent goals at every level so that you can be sure you're headed in the right direction. If you want clear insight into your remote team's performance, consider implementing cloud performance management software.

3. Create Daily Task Lists

Are your employees having trouble keeping up with tasks for the day? Create a daily task list that you want your remote employees to tackle so that everything that needs to get done for the day gets done. You can even segment your list into what's most important versus what can be put off for a little later. You can even use an app that lets you see exactly what your employees are doing at every second so you don't have to wonder. Task lists can keep everyone focused and on track to meet company sales and marketing goals.

4. Use Metrics

Metrics can help you better understand where your employees are falling short on the job so you can fix whatever's wrong. Use metrics like:

  • Number of sales
  • Number of units produced
  • Call handling time
  • First call resolution rate
  • Revenue per employee
  • Absenteeism rate

Start researching the metrics you'll use to track your own employees. It may vary from company to company, so you'll have to find ones that suits your business needs.

Offer Constructive Criticism

Sometimes employees don't quite measure up to where they could be. Offering constructive criticism can help guide them back in the right direction. Make sure to be honest about the employee's performance — and don't sugarcoat it or they may underestimate the true need for a change in their behavior. But don't be too hard on them either. Otherwise, you could discourage them from changing their behavior. Assess their work only and not their personality when offering constructive criticism.

Tracking Employee Performance Effectively

Tracking work-from-home employee performance is crucial right now since so many employees are working from home. If you want to keep your team on track, you'll need to implement a few of the above suggestions, such as using cloud performance management software that can help give you a bigger, clearer picture of how your employees are performing on the job.
