For a handful of executives this holiday season brought the gift of a hot new job.

Matt Kropp joined search marketing agency Covario in the brand new position of senior vice president for global client strategies and project management. Kropps has been in digital marketing for 16 years, with experience in paid search, SEO and Web analytics.

This is not the only executive change. Jeff Johnson was moved up to be co-CEO of the agency, and Russ Mann moved from CEO to chairman.

FrontRange, a maker of hybrid IT solutions, has a new CFO in the form of Kevin Thompson. The company makes service and client management software that runs in the cloud, on-premises, or both. Thompson, meanwhile, has had CFO level positions at various Silicon Valley companies over the last quarter century, most recently at Vitria Technology (News - Alert) Inc.

Voice over IP company Fonality (News - Alert) has three new hires all designed to strengthen the firm’s call center and related businesses. Raul Vera is the new chief technology officer. At the same time the company hired Lynn Jones and Amber Newman to do marketing.

Joseph F. Eazor is the new EarthLink CEO, the company just announced. That is not the only service provider shakeup. XO Communications (News - Alert) hired Christopher Ancell as its new CEO. Eazor replaces Rolla P. Huff, who is retiring from EarthLink, and will also be replaced on the board of directors by Eazor.

Eazor has more than 20 years of IT and consulting experience. Prior to his new CEO position, he served as EVP and COO of Global Sales and Customer Operations for EMC (News - Alert). He has also held a variety of senior leadership positions at HP and EDS.
