BroadSoft Taps Andrew Wyatt for Strategy Vice President Role

By Steve Anderson, Contributing TMCnet Writer

BroadSoft (News - Alert) brought out a new announcement regarding an open slot for the vice president of strategy, and that the company had made a selection in just who to bring on for that role. BroadSoft brought in Andrew Wyatt, and tasked him with developing BroadSoft's strategy on several fronts, including global business development, product development, and overall marketing initiatives.

Wyatt himself, meanwhile, boasts an impressive pedigree; having previously served as Clearswift's (News - Alert) chief operating officer, handling enterprise security issues, and before that the head of solution management when it came to subscriber data for Nokia Siemens (News - Alert) Networks, working to scale Apertio solutions so that Nokia Siemens Networks could put some extra punch in its subscriber database arm. All of this is experience that should serve Wyatt—and by extension BroadSoft—well, as now Wyatt is called to focus on things like BroadSoft's UC-One platform, a complete unified communications (UC) platform that brings all the major facets of a telecommunications service provider together in one package, allowing for rapid delivery of service to interested markets. This in turn allows for easier access to such services and improved mobile communications, a valuable development when it comes to the increasingly used concept of the mobile workforce.

Thankfully, Wyatt will be going into this operation with a great product line to work with. Recently, BroadSoft took home a People's Choice Stevie Award in the Favorite New Products category at the 11th Annual American Business Awards event. UC-One was ranked as the winner of the “Favorite Telecommunications Service” category, and received such recognition for—according to BroadSoft's vice president of marketing Leslie Ferry (News - Alert)—“its benefits,” which include the ability to “improve user productivity and enhance business processes.”

Benefits, of course, go on from there as the concept of the mobile workforce and the impact it can have on the bottom line becomes more easily noticeable. Businesses are discovering at a rapidly increasing pace just what kind of effect a mobile, flexible workforce can have in terms of morale, productivity and expenses, even if the mobile workforce concept hasn't quite caught on on all fronts.

Those are indeed sound benefits, and if Wyatt can focus on these benefits he's likely to see a lot of success for UC-One and for the wider BroadSoft line to come. Indeed, UC-One beat out a fairly broad field of potential winners at the American Business Awards, and that gives the product plenty to work with in terms of marketing. Wyatt should have a fairly smooth run ahead if he can keep to the benefits that UC-One and BroadSoft can offer, which in turn should give businesses plenty of reason to hitch a wagon to BroadSoft's star.
