Dyce Kimura Teaching Guitar Using Skype

By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer

Microsoft has worked awfully hard turning Skype (News - Alert) into something that every business can use when holding a meeting, using either video or audio. Despite the fact that the company that purchased the application has tried to turn it into the businessman’s best friend, there are still plenty of entertainment-based uses that can go right along with Skype. There are also plenty of educational uses that can go along with the application. When you are talking about a service that allows you to place and take calls, both audio and video quickly and easily, the sky is really the limit as far as what can be done with that solution.

Dyce Kimura has actually come up with a use for the application by teaching adults and children alike how to play the guitar. Most instrumental instructors are going to require you to be in the same room so that they can make sure you are hitting the keys or strings correctly. Kimura might be changing the way that these kinds of teachers work by holding the lessons using video chat.

Dyce has long said that he believes that anyone who wants to learn how to play an instrument can learn. He also believes that those who can learn, also need to somewhat teach and discipline themselves. He believes that by leaving a good portion of the practice and learning up to the students, he is giving them some valuable life lessons.

In the fast paced world of business, when call recording and VoIP have become huge players in the game, it seems somewhat refreshing to see someone using the tool to help other people better themselves. Dyce doesn’t give the lessons for free, though he has said that he is willing to give people who sign up for his course a very nice back to school deal.
