citysocializer App Announces New Features

By Brittany Walters-Bearden, TMCnet Contributor

For Brits who are interested in filling up their social diaries with new people, new places, and new events all over their city, iPhone (News - Alert) app citysocializer announced today that they have released an update. This new feature will enable users to view a GPS map of all of the “socials” that are taking place in a given city, which, the company says, will allow users of the app to make a decision about whether or not they want to go out based on their proximity. The app has also added the ability to utilize a new swipe feature that reveals more details about an event before users make the decision about whether or not they want to add the event to their iCal.

In a recent statement, CEO and founder of citysocializer Sanchita Saha noted, “Research amongst our most active users show that the ‘what’ of an activity or night out comes top of the list when making a decision on whether to go out or not, and this is followed very closely by the ‘where.’” She added that the next addition to the app will be “the ‘who’s going’ part,” aimed at guiding users to social happenings “where there are people going who you already know or are connected to, who share something in common, or who match the type of friend you’re keen to meet.”

There are over 50 cities available on citysocializer, including London, Bristol, and Manchester. While the app is free to download, access to the app and the website are subscription-based.

citysocializer represents the next wave of social media, in which people are taking their relationships offline and out into the real world, instead of taking their real-world relationships online. Such apps will encourage people to interact on a face-to-face basis once again, ensuring that one’s social life doesn’t revolve around clicking “refresh page.”
