CallSnap App Surpasses 60,000 Downloads

By Kasey Schefflin-Emrich, TMCnet Contributing Writer

The android application CallSnap by TIP Solutions recently reached more than 60,000 downloads.

CallSnap enables call recipients to respond to an incoming call with a picture, providing instant clarification to the caller about why the recipient can't pick up the phone. When the recipient receives a call, he or she is given the option to slide an icon to CallSnap, which declines the call and offers the recipient the ability to take a photo and choose from a variety of sayings overlaid as a frame such as the phrase "I'm busy, here's what I'm doing."

While the recipient is doing this, the caller receives a text message explaining that the intended recipient is busy and that a CallSnap photo is on the way. Once the recipient takes a photo and picks an attached phrase, both are sent to the caller.

“We‘re getting more than 1,000 downloads a day so we're continuing to gain momentum in the Android (News - Alert) app world,” Michael Unetich, president of TIP Solutions and a creator of CallSnap, said in a statement. “We’re planning our first in-app purchase to build the download momentum even more. This app is designed for those looking for a more interactive way to answer a phone call.”

CallSnap, which has a rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, has been gaining international popularity in places such as in India. So much so that the app received more downloads in the month of June than the SnapChat, an ppl for iOS and Android devices that lets photos and videos self-destruct after a a given amount of time. SnapChat works by allowing an individual to send a photo or video and choose an expiration time, up to 10 seconds, at which the photo or video will disappear on both the photo sender and recipient's devices.

While SnapChat has drawn criticism for the app condoning sexting since it minimizes risks associated with sending sexually explicit photos due to the fact that it can't be saved on devices, CallSnap is simply a way for mobile users to have a fun and new way to communicate with friends and family.

CallSnap can currently be downloaded for free in the Google (News - Alert) Play store.
