Spokane, Washington job seekers have a lot to be excited about, thanks to home automation company Vivint, Inc. The company has selected the suburb Liberty Lake, a city with a population of approximately 7,000 people, to bring 400 new jobs to (of which, approximately 95 percent will revolve around phone sales).
The 400 jobs appear to be promising, because the company, which offers home automation, energy management, home security, and solar energy, is a rising star. Vivint was not only acquired by The Blackstone Group for more than $2 billion, Forbes considers it one of the most promising companies of 2013.
Liberty Lake Mayor Steve Peterson expressed his enthusiasm for Vivint’s selection in the Associated Press (News - Alert); “Vivint considered many locations before selecting the City of Liberty Lake and now we are fortunate that they are joining our family of businesses.” The Spokesman-Review’s Tom Sowa reported that the Utah-based company considered ten states before settling on Washington, which they did after initial contact with Greater Spokane Incorporated. A company spokesperson told Sowa that Vivint selected Liberty Lake “because of the area’s skilled workforce and strong community support.”
In a job listing posted on Monster.com five days ago, Vivint indicated that it is seeking candidates with a high school degree and prefer candidates with prior sales experience. The two primary job responsibilities listed are the ability to “generate new security/ home automation systems accounts” and the ability to “determine customer req1uirements and needs in order to recommend specific products and solutions.”
Job seekers will be able to take part in two job fairs at the new Vivint office this month, on June 20 and 25. The first of Vivint’s new workers can expect to start work on July 15, and, as of right now, the company says that its plans are to hire 40 new workers each month. Sowa added that Greater Spokane Incorporated estimates a $62 million annual economic boost, thanks to Vivint.
