Albanian Telecom Selects CSG Interconnect for Wholesale Billing Management

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

CSG International recently secured a new customer of its CSG Interconnect wholesale billing management solution. This customer, ALBtelecom, has selected the CSG solution for its fixed line business and mobile brand, Eagle Mobile.

ALBtelecom is a leading operator in Albania that boasts subscriber numbers close to one million. As a result of this growth, the operator is seeing an increasing number of calls extending from its own network to those owned by other domestic and international operators, or calls that originate on other networks terminating on ALBtelecom's network.

In support of this, ALBtelecom has turned to CSG Interconnect to automate partner management, carrier-to-carrier rating, billing and settlement, and the dispute management and reconciliation process.

"Carrier-to-carrier billing offers an important and growing source of income for us, and by using CSG Interconnect we expect to settle with other operators more swiftly and efficiently than before, whilst adding additional revenue from detecting traffic our previous manual and in-house developed software approaches might have missed," said A.Vahap Yeroglu , deputy CEO of ALBtelecom.

CSG Interconnect is able to handle every kind of network traffic for local, regional and worldwide operators in a single, highly integrated platform. The solution is a component of CSG's Wholesale Business Management Solution (WBMS), which also offers partner management, optimized traffic trading and routing through the network, as well as accurate billing and settlement of services including voice, data, IP content and GSMA (News - Alert) roaming services.

WBMS includes a number of CSG's solutions, including the Ascade 7 trading and routing solutions, which CSG acquired along with the Ascade software company in July 2012.

"Wholesale partner management, billing and settlement is a core element of any operator’s cost and revenue model and by optimizing the interconnect process, significant costs can be saved and new revenues won," said Mike McKnight, vice president of professional services, EMEA, CSG International. "With CSG Interconnect, ALBtelecom has chosen an advanced billing platform that will easily scale to handle its growing subscriber numbers and expanding traffic, whilst helping it to fund recent and future investment in its network infrastructure for the benefit of its customers."
