Digium (News - Alert) has released two new Switchvox appliances, the Switchvox 450 and 470, aimed specifically at mid-sized businesses. The Switchvox 400 Series actually offers all of the unified communications features one would expect from a full enterprise-class product, but at an affordable price, allowing it to meet the IP phone system needs of businesses with up to 600 users, as well as their budgetary requirements.
The Switchvox (News - Alert) 450 and 470 are specifically designed to address larger applications and customer needs. As such, these appliances offer server-class architectures and top-quality hardware, including plenty of RAM (News - Alert) and state-of-the-art processors, as well as enhanced RAID and solid state drive (SSD) storage options. With these enhancements, the Switchvox 450 and 470 are able to double the number of concurrent calls supported over previous models.
Meanwhile, despite improved storage capacity and performance, these appliances have been reduced in size by 46 percent, with a 37 percent reduction in weight and a 22 percent drop in power consumption.
"Digium is broadening our line of phone systems to address the needs of larger and more complex UC requirements," said Mark Amick, Digium's director of product management. "Incorporating all of the award-winning features of Switchvox into two new appliances provides the solutions that our customers and channel partners have requested to address larger applications at the best value for SMB business phone systems."
It's been quite a year so far for Digium as the company introduced Digium Switchvox Support Engineer (dSSE) certification back in January, strengthening its partner program through advanced technical training. More recently, the company unveiled Switchvox Cloud, a hosted business telephony service aimed at small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) meant to be an alternative to an on-premises telephone system.
Meanwhile, both the Switchvox 450 and 470 offer excellent value to mid-sized businesses, with the 450 offering a complete UC business phone system with support for up to 500 users in a single platform. The 470, on the other hand, offers the fastest processing power in the entire Switchvox product line for companies supporting more demanding applications along with support for up to 600 users.
