New Scanning Software from Nuance for the Digital Era

By Ashley Caputo, TMCnet Web Editor

As the traditional office transforms into one that is more digital, users have begun to trade in their old office equipment for virtual replacements. Today, not only can users send and receive faxes and create PDFs from their mobile devices, they can basically run an entire business in the palm of their hands. To help the industry meet the growing demands of the digital world, Nuance (News - Alert) has developed the OmniPage Ulitmate document and scanning software that converts paper, PDFs and digital camera images into files users can edit and share.

According to Jeff Segarra, senior director of Imaging Product Management at Nuance, no other document conversion and scanning software can match the speed, flexibility and versatility of OmniPage. “With OmniPage innovations, users don't just convert documents, but have the ability to transform them. Nuance’s optical character recognition (OCR) and sophisticated natural sounding speech technology mean users can adapt any type of document into the digital file of their choice, including MP3 audio files for listening via desktop or mobile devices.”

The OmniPage Ultimate easily converts documents stored in leading cloud services like Dropbox (News - Alert) for anywhere, anytime information access. For mobility usage it also features a file formatting for reading documents on smartphones and tablets with eBook applications that support the ePUB format.

Designed for small to medium sized businesses or small workgroups within enterprises, the OmniPage Ultimate solutions is ideal for paper-intensive sectors like legal, financial, education and government. With its simplified launch pad users have the ability to upload a document, convert it and send it to its designated destination.

The BYOD trend made such an impact on the professional world by creating more opportunities to work remotely and how employees access and share information. “To support these trends,” Segarra said, “OmniPage Ultimate connects to many of the leading cloud services, enabling users to access documents on either desktop PCs or their mobile devices. Users are also able to share documents between devices and automatically synchronize content to ensure work is captured.”

Along with its speed, Omnipage is cost efficient in the way that it saves time and increases productivity in the office, as it is designed to handle high volumes of documents from multiple devices. With its recent upgrade, users can comfortably listen to any document being read to them through the iPhone, iPad, Android (News - Alert) or other mobile device that supports MP3 audio files. This solution is designed to meet the needs of users on the go, constantly traveling or working remotely.
