The Amazon Appstore continues to be popular among app developers. A new survey from App Annie shows that 22.5 percent of app developers publish on Amazon’s Appstore. 

The survey was based on responses from some 1,500 developers, said App Annie, a mobile app analytics firm.

Of these 22.5 percent, some 51 percent explained that the ease of porting Android (News - Alert) apps to the Amazon platform was why they publish to Amazon. Also, some 56 percent of survey respondents who publish to the Amazon Appstore focus on games, and 50 percent added that “games” was their top Appstore revenue driver.

"The Amazon Appstore has experienced substantial growth since it first launched over two years ago," Bertrand Schmitt, CEO of App Annie, said in a recent statement. "While Amazon Appstore is the new kid on the block, we hear great things from developers about their ability to monetize from the store. Amazon's announcement to expand to nearly 200 countries is significant for developers and signals Amazon's ascent to one of the important global app stores."

Some of the new markets are Canada, South Korea and Brazil.

For the most part, studies suggest the same kind of trends.

“Previous reports have confirmed roughly the same thing: that Android developers are turning to Amazon’s Appstore in greater numbers, and are seeing the benefits,” adds a report from TechCrunch. “Amazon Appstore’s revenue per user tops that of Google (News - Alert) Play, or even iOS, in some cases.”

Still, Distimo, another analytics firm, reported recently that Google Play is surpassing Amazon on revenue, TechCrunch said. Also, the number of paid downloads for Google Play was twice the paid downloads found on Amazon. One part of its study showed that Google Play had 1.7 more than Amazon Appstore – when it comes to revenue. Yet it is clear that some applications “did better on Amazon,” TechCrunch said.
