Eastlink Improves its Home Security Service with Home Automation

By Frank Griffin, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Whether you live alone or you have extended family members and pets in your home, keeping them safe is a top priority. In the past, monitored security services for the home gave the user very limited access as to how the security protocols were being implemented, but these days technology is making it possible to grant the user multiple options. The improvements Eastlink has made to the home security service with home automation allows the homeowner to see what is taking place at the residence using PCs, smartphones or other mobile devices.

The home automation feature not only provides remote monitoring with mobile devices, but it gives the homeowner control of key household functions such as the temperature, lighting and door locks around the clock from virtually anywhere in the world.

This platform uses the latest technology and advanced multimedia and home automation applications. Some of the features the home automation service provides include live video view of the interior and exterior of the home depending on the number of video camera installations; access monitoring from live local operators who are able to text and e-mail of any notification 24/7; and securely managing home security features remotely and viewing events on multiple devices and platforms.

The customized alarm system is available to residents in Halifax, NS, in selected areas with plans to expand to other regions in the near future.

Eastlink is a leading telecommunications service provider in Canada with the country’s first and only 100 percent LTE (News - Alert) network and high-speed Internet scalable to 200 Mbps. Additionally it offers HD and 3D entertainment with multiscreen viewing, and DVR enabling control of TV functions using a tablet.

"Eastlink Home Automation revolutionizes the whole home experience,” said Lee Bragg, Eastlink CEO. “From virtually anywhere at any time, our customers can see what's happening in their home while controlling key household functions using a smartphone or any other mobile device."
