Spotify (News - Alert) users in the UK will soon rejoice, dance and sing to their favorite tunes over and over and over again with Spotify’s announcement to lift the five play limit that was imposed on UK users and other European markets in April 2011, which  allowed users only a five time play of an individual track (before being grayed out), along with only 10 hours of total listening time a month.

In March 2012, the five play limit was lifted in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Netherlands, and Spain, excluding the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Denmark, but the 10 hour listening cap remained in effect for all European markets.

At that time, Spotify stated “Our agreements with the labels differ from market to market. We’re working hard to bring these improvements to the entire service, so watch this space,” explains the company.”

Spotify is a commercial music streaming service that premiered in 2008, its content includes independent and major record labels, i.e. EMI, Sony, Universal, and Warner Music Group.

Currently, Spotify has more than 24 million users, of which, six million are paying subscribers.

Although Spotify has not commented beyond its blog post, there is some speculation that they are heading toward zero restrictions of their service, like their U.S., Australian and New Zealand markets, which never had any restrictions imposed.
