Mapquest has been one of the most trusted and most used mapping programs. Now the company is expanding its reach launching their free travel blogs. The new travel blogs are being offered online and through mobile applications for Android and iOS. Mapquest and Apple (News - Alert) have had a long standing relationship when it comes to sharing their technology, but this is a whole new kind of application that could change the way people look at Mapquest.

Once upon a time, Mapquest was the only mapping software that travelers would turn to. Then smartphones came along, and printing out your instructions in order to get from point A to point B became a thing of the past. Mapquest has tried to change the way it works by working with GPS and turn-by-turn navigation.

The company has even managed to forge a new partnership with Apple, since the Apple maps turned out to be such a disaster. Apple has been telling customers that the Mapquest application for iOS is one that they should download because of its dependability. Now with the new free travel blogs, people will be able to find where they are going and document where they have been at the same time.

These new Mapquest travel blogs will allow people to create blogs that will feature photos, reviews and any stories you’d like to record on them. You will be able to easily share your blogs with your friends and if you are using one of the apps you don’t even need to be connected to write a new blog entry. If you are out of Internet range, the app will hold the information you put together and then sync up once you return to an area that has a connection.

Of course, since this is Mapquest, you will also be able to do things like map out an entire trip and read other travelers journals to get you in the mood to do a little traveling of your own.
