Yippee-Ki-Yay! It's a Good Day to Play Die Hard

By Rich Steeves, TMCnet Web Editor

Some of us remember when Bruce Willis was the funny guy on Moonlighting. But then, as soon as John McClane started making “fists with his toes” and fighting Hans Gruber in that office building, cinema changed forever. Suddenly, movies were being referred to in reference to Die Hard. Speed was “Die Hard on a bus,” and Sudden Death was “Die Hard at a hockey game.” Now, more than two decades later, the Die Hard franchise is still going strong, with the fifth installment in the series, A Good Day to Die Hard, making its US debut on Valentine’s Day. And, for fans of John McClane and the Die Hard franchise, there is a brand new Die Hard game from POSSIBLE.

The game, now available for iPhone, iPad, Android (News - Alert) and Kindle Fire devices, has been dubbed an “endless shooter.” According to POSSIBLE, it combines the best qualities of an endless runner game with the thrills of a first-person shooter. You take control of John McClane’s now-grown son, Jack, as you tear through the streets of Moscow fighting bad guys. Check out the trailer below:

“The DIE HARD franchise is one of the most recognizable entertainment properties in the world and we are honored to bring the latest installment to life in the form of the new DIE HARD app,” said Andrew Solmssen, managing director, Los Angeles at POSSIBLE, in a statement.  “Our number one mandate in developing the app was to create an awesome standalone gaming experience.”

The app is available for $.99 on iTunes and for free at Google Play. If you don’t have a date for the premiere of the movie tonight, at least you can spend some time shooting bad guys. That always makes me feel better!
