Vision247 Aims to Provide IPTV and OTT Delivery in MEA

By Rory Lidstone, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Vision247, a broadcast specialist in the U.K., recently expanded its global operations by way of new offices in Dubai as well as the appointment of Tanya Vidmar to the role of managing director for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The company already has some reach in the area, working with regional broadcasters — Al Arabia, MBC, GEM (News - Alert) TV and Iqraa — but plans to expand its activities by supporting local telecoms operators.

As such, Vision247 will be able to offer combined subscription and pay-per-view services, both IPTV (News - Alert) and OTT, with the provision of channels and apps. In fact, the region's leading telecom operators have already come to the decision that merging the adaptability of OTT delivery with the security of managed IPTV is the way to go.

Vision247's Middle East and Africa (MEA) offices will support new partnerships with telecom providers in the region as the company works on its award-winning XtremeIPTV and Perception platforms in order to introduce new solutions — high performance VOD, network PVR and Time Shift systems, HLS streaming, and set top box and mobile client applications — for telecommunications companies' IPTV networks.

"The Middle East and Africa regions represent some of the most exciting new opportunities for Vision247," said Vidmar in a statement. "As a vendor of IPTV and OTT content delivery and management platforms the company is in a prime position to support the development of free to view and payTV services, delivered over the internet, to the new generation of ‘digital’ homes in the region."

In November, Vision247 unveiled SuperVision, an advanced professional broadcast monitoring application for multichannel streamed television services. Meant to provide broadcasters with an easy to configure, accurate and cost effective solution for monitoring an unlimited number of live streamed channels, SuperVision is capable of detecting issues with streamed transmissions immediately.

In October, the company released 18 Polish language channels on its Vision TV Network via Polska+, providing Polish-speaking people in the U.K. additional sources of entertainment.
