When we hear the word “FREE” in any context, our thoughts immediately hone into the conversation or promotion. With our favorite technology devices being so expensive, the thought of any such product being free isn’t quite feasible, except for people living in the UK.
Carphone Warehouse, the largest telecommunications retailer in Europe, has created a new marketing strategy for the technology industry. With the cost of products so high and new releases coming out constantly, the average person’s effort to keep up with the latest creations can be a financial burden.
In the wake of this matter, Carphone Warehouse offers consumers who are buying or upgraded their smartphone the option of paying monthly, pay as you go or SIM only. But the option that seems to be enticing people the most is paying monthly, as it is the only one that gives you the luxury of receiving free gifts.
With every smartphone that you purchase that is a part of its “FREE Gifts” selection, you automatically get the choice of choosing a free gift, which will depend on the cost of your plan. The more expensive your plan is the more options of gifts you have, but even with the lowest purchases the company offers products that bear a significant cost on the market.
If you purchase the cheapest smartphone, Nokia (News - Alert) 100, for about $25, you receive a Kindle Fire HD 32GB. With the purchase of the most expensive smartphone, Nokia Lumia, for about $67 you can chose from a larger selection of gifts, including a Samsung (News - Alert) Galaxy Note 16G.
The method of purchasing your smartphone and choosing the option to pay monthly seems to be the most beneficial for the retailer and consumer, as it is the only one this offer applies to. Whether it makes sense financially to the individual to choose this plan, there is a huge (free) bonus that comes along with it that isn’t usually offered.
For anyone not living in the UK or Channel Islands, this offer is too good to be true because Carphone Warehouse’s (News - Alert) products are only eligible for purchases within these boundaries. But for the rest of us, it brings to our attention how the market is changing in order to make these devices financially appealing.
