Does your Mobile Device Need a Personal Assistant?

By Ashley Caputo, TMCnet Web Editor

The doors of technology have opened up so many endless ways to communicate that it’s often hard to stay updated on every e-mail or Facebook (News - Alert) status. With so many e-mails, texts and images that need to be sent out on a daily basis, it’s starting to reach a point where our mobile devices need personal assistants to help operate them.

Well, low and behold, the world is now being introduced to the next form of technology invented middle men: Digital Assistants.

Easilydo is a new app that functions as an all-in-one assistant to complete personal tasks that exist within the settings of e-mail, calendar, and social network and address book.

After downloading the app, users have the option of connecting to a variety of accounts including Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo, LinkedIn (News - Alert) as well as personal calendars. Easilydo is then able to gather your tasks by analyzing the data in the accounts, creating either reminders or alerts for each. It will then put automatic options together and allow you to generate them to different locations – all from one spot.

For example, Easilydo will alert you that it is your friend’s birthday and put together a birthday greeting, leaving you with the simple choice of whether you want it sent via Facebook or a text message. Instead of having to log onto your Facebook or Gmail, Easilydo will offer you the option of sending a birthday wish from whatever account you chose.

With so many people choosing social media as a way to share important events, it requires constant attention; however, with Easilydo, you don’t even have to check your Facebook newsfeed or read updates, because it can “read” for you.

Easilydo uses a language processing technology that deciphers the news from the social networks you use and alert you of an event. Whether someone announces an engagement or recent graduation, it will alert, along with the option of sending a greeting or gift.

In terms of your work life, Easilydo will remind you to send out RSVP’s or even dial into the number of an upcoming conference call for you. For instance, if you have a personal meeting scheduled in your calendar, it will send you a personal reminder and a map to get to your destination.

The Easilydo App is available for free from the App store for the iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod touch. In the future, Easilydo plans on releasing the app for different types of devices and work with larger businesses like banks or airlines to help users pay bills and book flights.

Is this too good to be true, or are we just living in time when anything is possible – where one day, our digital assistans might need their own personal digital assistants?
