Digium Ups the Ante in Training and Certification

By Steve Anderson, Contributing TMCnet Writer

Digium (News - Alert) announced earlier today that it was looking to expand its lineup of training offerings for its partners. While Digium's partner program has already won awards, it's only about to get better thanks to the release of the new Digium Switchvox (News - Alert) Support Engineer (dSSE) certification, available at no charge to all of Digium's partners.

Digium's dSSE certification focuses on several key points related to advanced technical training for the Switchvox service, including advanced troubleshooting and configuration setup in a bid to not only get Switchvox up and running, but keep it that way.

Thus, the dSSE not only focuses on initial installations in a local area network, but also on things like security for the SwitchVox VoIP network, troubleshooting an SIP call flow and identifying basic details about SIP in general, providing for backups and updates and learning the specific best practices for troubleshooting SwitchVox as a whole.

This certification is only part of the Digium whole, however, as Digium also offers a series of videos and tutorials available, on demand, for its partners to help maintain the products and services they offer as part of a wider base of both basic information and full certifications.

For instance, the Digium Certified Switchvox Professional and Digium Certified Switchvox Engineer certification courses have not only been recently updated, but they're also available as part of the partner program.

The director of global channel sales at Digium, Jim Butler, explained the value of the Digium offerings: "As part of our rapidly expanding partner program, we want to ensure that our top-level partners have access to the tools and expertise they need to quickly and effectively support their SMB customers. The new dSSE certification allows partners to extend their service capabilities for our Switchvox Unified Communications (News - Alert) solutions and increases the technical expertise of our partner base.”

“We are excited to introduce this new, advanced training as another one of the benefits available to our partners,” he said.

One of the best ways to tell if a company is worth buying products from is to gauge its level of service after the sale. It's hard to deny that a company wants its customers to succeed if it’s willing to do a little extra in terms of keeping a product or service up and running, and if a company wants its customers to succeed, then it’s certainly worth buying from.

Some call it warranties, others call it customer service, but the measure of service after the sale is a great way to make distinctions among different companies' offerings.

Digium is clearly putting all its cards on the table here, and making it clear it wants to be a company's vendor of choice not just today, but down the road.

The firm’s level of service after the sale certainly should help those on the fence make their final buying decision for Digium.
