Apple Releases iOS 6.1's Third Beta to Developers

By Oliver VanDervoort, Contributing Writer

Ever since Apple (News - Alert) released iOS6, there have been some people who have felt that it was one of the best operating systems that the company has ever rolled out. There have been others who have felt as though it left a little something to be desired. On the negative side was Apple’s massive failure at mapping software. When it comes to this particular part of iOS6, the company has actually had to highlight other companies’ mapping software to pick up the slack where apple could not come through

On the flip side of the original iOS6 release is the functionality that the new Passbook application provides now and could provide in the future. This is the kind of app that is ready to become more and more useful depending on how the company chooses to improve the application as time goes on. Companies have already said that big things could be ahead for small businesses when it comes to finding a way to use Passbook in the coming months and years.

Now, Apple is looking to improve on iOS6 just a little bit more by seeding its third beta of iOS 6.1 to developers. On Monday, these developers found out that the new seeded version of iOS6 was ready to be downloaded.

Apple, as always, promised that this new version of its popular operating system came fully stocked with a host of different bug fixes and small improvements. Those who have devices that are dedicated to iOS 6.1 beta software development are able to download the operating systems. Once the beta version is in the hands of the developers, it’s usually not very long until it is actually in the hands of the general public. While this version doesn’t have a ton of new features, Apple is usually pretty good about getting a few good tweaks in every new release.
